Australian eDemocracy has a new editor

05 June, 2007

By Graham Young

Allison Orr is the new editor of Australian eDemocracy which is published by The National Forum.

Graham Young, Executive Director of National Forum, welcomed Allison and said that the organisation is looking forward to her knowledge and enthusiasm in the area of eDemocracy transforming the site.

“Allison is well-qualified for the position as she is completing a PhD at the University of New South Wales on democracy in the information age, and has an MA in International Relations.

“She has previously worked in public broadcasting radio current affairs, and for an Australian political party.

Mr Young said that it was a sign of the times that Allison also currently lives in Japan.

“New technology does not acknowledge national boundaries, and some of the developments of most relevance to Australia in this field happen internationally. An editor living in Japan may well be better-placed to keep track of them than living in Australia.”

Australian eDemocracy is published by The National Forum and sponsored by Cisco Systems, QUT and the Queensland Department of Communities.

It is a clearing house and resource for information on eDemocracy initiatives relevant to Australia.
