New Report: Australian ICT Statistical Compendium04 September, 2009
|By Allison Orr|
The Australian Computer Society (ACS) has launched the Australian ICT Statistical Compendium 2009, a comprehensive “snapshot” of ICT economic and social trends in Australia. The report is designed to guide ICT policy makers and business leaders, and was officially released to Senator Conroy, Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy.
The Compendium, produced using data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics and other Government agencies, incorporates statistics on the Australian ICT sector, ICT trade, the ICT workforce and other areas, with the statistics broken down into categories for detailed analysis, and also on a national and state/territory basis.
The report shows that more than half a million people are employed in the ICT sector in Australia, with an estimated skills shortage of eleven thousand.
