New Pew Report: Obama voters expect continued engagement with new administration

The Obama campaign saw unprecedented levels of online engagement in the political process, and a new report by the Pew Internet and American Life project has found that voters expect that level of engagement to continue into the new president’s administration.

More than half (51%) expect ongoing communication from the administration via the same means that were employed in the campaign: email, social network sites and phone texting.  More than a quarter (27%) of online Obama supporters have gone online to get information, track progress or get into discussions on the transition process.

Many of those who were involved in the campaign also expect to continue campaigning, by supporting and promoting the president’s agenda, especially online.
