YouTube launches channel for citizen journalists

The team at YouTube News and Politics have launched a channel for citizen journalists called CitizenNews. This channel has been created "to bring your news reports, your stories, your work into the spotlight", says Olivia, the new News Manager at YouTube.
Most mainstream news outlets provide a way for the public to send in photos and videos of news events, and now YouTube is entering this field, providing space specifically for video news reports. There is already a great deal of content on YouTube that can be classified as citizen journalism – people reporting the news that is important to their community and their country in their own words. This channel will bring together and highlight some of the best examples of this.
