Webcasts from the International e-Participation Symposium13 March, 2008
|By Allison Orr|
Some reports are now available from the International eParticipation Symposium in London from 28 and 29 February.
The main workshops from the conference were webcast and have been archived. You can access them via the conference website.
The keynote address at the conference was given by Hazel Blears MP and is available via her website. In her speech, entitled The New Politics, she said she hopes that Alvin Toffler’s prediction that "knowledge is the most democratic source of power" will hold true, and goes on to say that "information technology can play its part in enriching democracy, strengthening communities, and making the new politics possible everywhere".
You can read a blog critique of this speech by Stephen Coleman, Professor of Political Communication and Co-Director of the Centre for Digital Citizenship at the University of Leeds. There is also a Guardian blog entry that analyses the content of the speech.
