New Republican campaign website

10 October, 2007
By Allison Orr

Two Republican campaigners have launched a new website this week called Slatecard that allows individuals to select from a full list of all Republicans running for national office, create a slatecard filled with candidates with whom they agree for their readers to support with donations.  Any visitor can raise money for the Republican candidate of their choice and promote the list to friends, family and readers.

The creators, David All and Sendhil Panchadsaram hope that this website will be a step to seeing the Republicans making the most of the Internet as the Democrats have, particularly for fundraising

"It is no secret that Democrats are far ahead of Republicans in converting their online presence to offline support.  It is our hope that Slatecard will level the playing field for Republican candidates and causes by providing an innovative platform for use by the Right kind of activists", says the website.

They hope the website will be as successful for the Republicans as ActBlue has been for the Democrats, which has raised more than $30 million since its inception in 2004 from grassroots donors.
