MySpace/MTV conversations with US presidential candidates

MTV and MySpace have announced a partnership to hold a series of live conversations between US presidential candidates and Internet users.  The conversations will be an hour long and be streamed live on MTV and MySpaceTV.  Unlike the CNN/YouTube debates, this format will allow questions to be sent in live to the candidates via email, instant messaging, or text.  Real-time polling will rate the online audience's response to candidates' answers.

The first candidate to appear in this format will be Senator John Edwards on 27 September, with all the other major candidates scheduled to follow.

Chris DeWolfe, co-founder and CEO of MySpace, said, "We are lowering the barriers to entry, setting a high-water mark for direct engagement between Presidential candidates and average Americans."
