The blogosphere is growing every day – in size and importance, and in the most recent “State of the Blogosphere” report, Technorati shows that about 120,000 new weblogs are created worldwide each day – that’s about 1.4 blogs every second!  The report also shows their increasing significance as outlets for news and information on the web, with 22 blogs among the top 100 most popular sites.

And in a reflection of the global nature of the blogosphere, Japanese (37%) was the number one language for blogging this quarter, coming just ahead of English (33%), followed by Chinese (8%).  In a notable increase of diversity, Farsi entered the top-ten blogging languages with 1% of blogs.  Blogging is growing in popularity in the Middle East, particularly in Iran, with TodayLink.ir, Persian Blog Fans Club and Giliran.com making the Top 100.
